Nope. I’m not talking about the book entitled “The Color Purple”, I meant it simply and literally- the color purple. Since the end of 2008 until Mid-March of 2009, this color has been the hot tint for both men and women, for any season. Purple stayed on from December ‘08 to survive the fashion shift from the cold winter to spring this year.
Everything from purple tops to purple jeans and purple dresses and gowns has been flying off the shelves of department stores. Aside from that, purple clutch bags, hats and leather belts are also hot items.

Purple, or its deeper incarnation more popularly called violet, is a color for royalty. The royal garb was heavy on this color, along with blue, red and gold no other shade was as prevalent. Before it enjoyed its current resurgence, it took the sidelines but was still enjoyed by some young ladies and girls in its paler and pastel hue called lilac.
However, by December it was so popular that its relatively (and classically) severe and gloomy character has been completely forgotten and it was made the color of the Christmas season. Men and women went to parties in purple; they exchanged purple gifts and used purple accessories.
This just goes to prove that fashion trends are very unpredictable and highly contagious. Makes you wonder what color comes next.
