There are many scalp conditions known to man such as severe dandruff, Seborrhoeic dermatitis, Cutis verticis gyrata, Androgenic alopecia and of course, head lice.
The unusually excessive shedding of dead skin cells from the scalp is known as dandruff. This may be caused by extreme exposure to heat and cold, and by the chemicals contained in the hair products we use that may irritate the scalp. Androgenic alopecia, or male pattern baldness, is a usual cause of concern to men. Although it may also occur on women, Androgenic alopecia rarely leads to total baldness in females. It may be treated by medication or hair transplant. Cutis verticis gyrata on the other hand, is a descriptive term for a rare scalp deformity. It is a superficial condition associated with the thickening of the scalp. People who suffer from this condition show visible ridges or folds on the surface of the top of the scalp. The folds are typically soft and spongy and the number may vary from 2 to 10. Head lice or Head louse is a condition caused by the colonization of parasite insects on the hair and skin. Usually, only the scalp or head of the human host is infested although lice may also infest other hairy parts of the body. The most common symptom of head lice is Itching Scalp.
Now, scalp problems can now be resolved using medication and other scalp treatment products such as specialized shampoo or anti-fungal shampoo, transplants, and may be prevented by early diagnosis.
